Everyone has heard plenty about Wilmington, Charleston, Savannah and Daytona Beach. What about the small towns that line the coast from Corolla, NC to Key West, FL?
We're covering the charm, the feel, the tastes and the fun of the small towns on the Southeastern Coast. From Beaufort, NC to Georgetown, SC. From Vero Beach, Florida to Darien, Georgia - there is so much charm in the small coastal towns in the south that is missed by most travelers. We're writing a book that highlights what makes each town special.
A book with a great deal of detail about each of the small towns we highlight - would be quite a hefty and costly book and so this website will be a digital companion to the book with more information about and photos of each small town. There will be a unique QR code for each town in the book and that will take the reader to the webpage associated with that town. The webpage will contain more detail about the town plus photos. There also will be limited (and unobtrusive) affordable advertising opportunities on each town's webpage.
The book will be arranged by chapters - delineated by state. North Carolina will be a chapter, as will South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. For this book we will be covering the east coast of Florida from Fernandina Beach to Key West. A subsequent book titled 'Gulf Coastal Towns' will cover the west coast of Florida - around the gulf to South Padre Island, TX. But that... is a different project.
Each chapter will contain the coastal towns highlighted for that state - in a north-to-south order.
By and large, travelers care about a few things:
The contributors to this book are coastal southerners and we are proud of the hospitality that the south offers as an everyday part of what it is. We will write about the overall welcoming feeling of each town and what makes the town special in that aspect.
One of the major things that travelers look forward to when exploring new places are the eating and drinking establishments that they will visit. We will visit and review a limited number of these establishments in each town and we will be writing about what makes those establishments special. From the food - to the decor and the feel of the establishment - we will let the reader know why they should choose that establishment. We will report on the general pricing of the establishment and - where applicable - the Key Lime Pie* of the establishment.
*Key Lime Pie has become a staple at coastal restaurants in the south.
Travelers care about the quality of their lodging - from Hotels to Campgrounds. We will highlight lodging in each town and what the places we review has to offer and the price range of the establishment.
One of the reasons to visits some towns is the activities that town (or area) offers. From hang gliding on the Outer Banks to Bone Fishing in the Keys - there's a lot to highlight in this category.
This is a major category for a lot of travelers. We will rate the town based on its overall cost to visit including some detail. Key West = $$$$. Southport, NC = $$. You get the idea.
"Southern Coastal Towns" will be available in E-Book form as well.
We would love to hear from you. If you have a favorite establishment along the southeast coast that you think we should visit and highlight - drop us an email. If you are a business owner in these towns - we'd love to hear from you as well.
